It’s one thing after another

This week has been absolute turmoil for me. Between all the drama that’s been going on and then my apartment flooding, I thought I’d had enough. But no, it had to get worse.

Roughly 5 days ago, these little tiny welts appeared on my inner forearm in a near perfect isosceles triangle. They looked like mosquito or spider bites, and itched like one would assume they would. So really, I didn’t think anything of it.

Well, literally within the past 36 hours, a whole 3-inch-radius-area around the welts has swollen up. It itches like hell, feels sore when I touch it or move my arm, and is firm to the touch. Not to mention, it’s bright red and is giving off enough heat to fry an egg on.

Since I don’t have health insurance and a doctor’s visit would be costly and would take time to get, I went to the hospital emergency room. At least that way, I wouldn’t be required to pay the copay up front and before my visit.

I ended up being in the emergency room for 7 hours, only for them to determine that I probably have an infection (even though none of my lymph nodes are swollen) and to give me antibiotics. I have to go back tomorrow morning for the rest of my prescription (they only gave me part of it) and for some diagnostic tests, I think. THEN, I have to come back again on Sunday so they can evaluate the welt and see if the antibiotics are working. If not… then I have to be hospitalized, because the problem could be much worse than an infection. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

So, when they had me in one of those “stalls” with the bed, the lady in the stall next to me had a huge cyst on her back that had to be drained/removed. Then they moved me to a waiting area of sorts because they needed the bed, and a prisoner was brought in and they sat him in the waiting area I was in. It was kind of scary, he was in the orange jumpsuit with ankle cuffs and handcuffs locked to a belt, and two big, burly corrections officers to guard him. There was a TV in the area, and Family Guy was on. Me, this other girl in the area, and the two officers were laughing at Family Guy, and the prisoner was completely deadpan the entire time. Creepy.

Anyway, other than this thing on my arm, I’m completely healthy. I’m really hoping it goes away.

Health plan hasn’t been nice to us these days never mind that I have good (and unfortunately expensive) insurance. Nonetheless, I hope you come out of dr appt with flying colors. Hang in there!

….this may be a blessing in disguise arwen. they very well could be three seperate RADIOACTIVE spider bites. do you know what that means? you’ll be 3x the spider-person as peter parker! 3x the webbing, 3 x the wall crawling, and 3x the sarcastic remarks. you will also be able to do whatever a spider can, and you’ll catch thieves just like flies because you can spin a web any size. are you strong? listen bud, youve got radioactive blood.

……erm…..you could also have something wrong with you

((ps i hope that made you feel better at least xD))

I’m sorry things have been so sucky for you this past week. Mine hasn’t been much better but itchy boils hurt like hell. Stick with the meds, I hope everything works out ok!

Oh god, that sounds like something off X-Files! I hope you’re doing better today. Those antibiotics will hopefully clear it right up. You don’t want to start morphing into some character from Buffy, lol.

Sorry, just trying to make light of it. Don’t want you to be up all night terrified. I’m sure you’ll be fine. It could have even been an allergic reaction. One time I took antibiotics and my hands swelled to twice their size and started itching like crazy. The human body is weird.

That prisoner sounds creepy for sure. Hopefully he just had a drug charge or something, but you never know these days… ::cue spooky music::
