Jobless and hating it

I’ve been unemployed since I quit Victoria’s Secret, and I’m really getting sick of sitting at home all the time doing nothing. I’m collecting unemployment insurance from my previous two full-time jobs which is substantial, but my benefits are currently “on hold” because they didn’t receive a questionnaire that I mailed back to them. And there’s nothing I can do except wait for them to get my shit in order.

I just finished a big website job recently that the client is now not paying me for because of a huge underlying situation that I’m actually not involved with. It’s so frustrating.

Over the past few months, I’ve sent out hundreds upon hundreds of resumes for job postings on Craigslist that I’m overqualified for, and I haven’t received a single offer yet. None of the pharmacies in my area are hiring (I have 3 1/2 years experience as a pharmacy tech) because none of them do enough daily scripts to hire extra help.

I know people who would kill to have a schedule like mine… stay up however late you want, sleep in however late you want, play video games and browse the internet all day, and still get paid because you’re collecting unemployment insurance. For the first few days it was okay, because I got to catch up on some stuff I was behind on, but now I’m pretty much going out of my mind with nothing to do. It’s hard to appreciate your days off when that’s all you have.

Have you considered volunteering? There are lots of folks in need of help that would appreciate your services. Best of success in finding the right path soon.

You should be a waitress at a diner…because you would be adorable as a waitress at a diner. OMG, you should work at Georgia Peach (or sometimes G’Forgia Peach). XD

Just hang in there and keep sending out those resumes. You never know just when the phone might ring!

Yeah when you’ve got a lot of time on your hands it does seem to be worth a lot less then if you didn’t have a lot of time. Good luck in finding a job.

I know what you mean. I miss working first of all because then I had money. But then second of all, it was the place I could go to socialize. It’s pretty lonely when you are sitting at home doing nothing all of the time. If you don’t need to work for the money I would suggest just looking for a job that you enjoy. If I didn’t have to worry about money I would go back to working at the movie theater because I loved working there.
