Flooding
Ugh. So our bedroom kind of flooded, and we had to get a new mattress. I shall explain.
Last week I noticed there was wetness on the floor and around the edge of the mattress (we don’t have a bed, just a mattress on the floor). Seeing an empty water bottle next to the bed, I figured it had just tipped over while we were sleeping and that it was no big deal. I told Eric to be more careful with his water bottle, and we forgot about it.
A few days later, we had bought a new sheet set and this one was light colored as opposed to the black sheets we had before. Upon putting the fitted sheet on the bed I noticed that the underside of the mattress was still wet, and a couple hours later there was discoloration all over the edges of the sheet from the damp mattress.
The other day, while I was at work, Eric picked up the mattress to find that we had buckets of water seeping in through the floor. Our mattress was completely soaked, and was probably growing mold. I guess the source of the leak was towards the front of the house, because our roommate’s room (which is at the very front of the house) was worse. The empty bedroom towards the back of the apartment wasn’t affected at all, so Eric and I started moving our stuff in there.
We told the landlord about it, and apparently something had backed up and flooded into the basement apartment. It wasn’t sewage (it would have smelled like a cesspool – instead it smelled like soil) but it was definitely stopped up groundwater. Which is weird, because it hadn’t rained in a few days, nor had it rained so heavily as to cause flooding.
Anyway, we had to drop $200 on a new mattress and we’re taking it out of our rent. I’ve had to do tons of laundry because all our clothes are either soaked or smell like soil.

Just be glad you home when it happened, I’ve known people who where out of town and came back to backed up pipes that were of sewage..

I am completely understanding of different beliefs of different traditions. I accept that as Pagans, we’re all practicing our beliefs in different ways, and I am open to all of that. But I’m not the only person who thinks Silver Ravenwolf is only out there to make money. I think it’s up to the reader to use their own discretion and trust their own instincts about an author.

Oh yuck. I’m sorry to hear about the apparent flood/leak in your bedroom. Good for you for deducting the cost from your rent. You should deduct the laundry detergent, too.
