What a bunch of cry babies
I decided to check my stats this morning (as I haven’t done so in a while), and was surprised to find a considerable amount of traffic coming to my site via dubious.nu, and more specifically, the Snark message board. A quick search revealed to me that I’ve been posted about since the mid/end of April. Now it makes sense. I’ve been receiving nasty comments here and there (most of them pussies that hide behind the veil of anonymity) pretty much accusing me of stealing Melissa’s layout. In the forum thread, they go on to pick apart my site and the similarities between layouts, and go so far as to say I should credit her if I was inspired.
Yes, I like Melissa’s layout. Yes, I may have been inspired by her layout. But as long as I wrote my own code and made my own images, and it’s not ZOMG THE SAME!, then what’s the big fucking deal? Cripes! It’s not like I copied her source code or anything. The color schemes are different, the theme of the layouts are different, my sidebar is on the left, my top “bar” has one curve, not two, and I don’t even use the same header font.
But apparently, since I use a light-colored background on my sidebar with white boxes, and my sidebar “headers” have little hearts next to them, that’s ZOMG STEALING! If Melissa has a problem with my layout, then she should say something to me herself.
Well, to those of you coming here from Snark to criticize my site, grow the fuck up. If you want to post a nasty comment, at least have the fucking balls to put your name and email.
Edit: Since this seems to be a slight misunderstanding, let me clarify: I am in no way putting any blame on Melissa. She’s not the one bitching about my site, nor is she the one leaving nasty anonymous comments.

Those who are commenting anonymously are, I’ll willingly admit, fucking stupid. If you’re going to say something, put your name to it. However, for you to point and place blame on Melissa is unjust.

But I agree with Amanda, Melissa isn’t the one with the issue =]
I was not in any way implying it was Melissa’s fault. It wasn’t Melissa who started the thread, left unjust commentary in the thread, or made attempts to post hateful anonymous comments on my site.
What a bunch of dumbasses. Fuck them.
I’d like to know: who inspired Melissa? And who inspired Melissa’s muse? And the muse’s muse? Should we just link on down the fucking line?
People are so petty and retarded. If they didn’t have someone to bash and pick apart online, they’d be twiddling their thumbs in front of daytime TV or obsessing over Elijah Wood or something equally pointless.
It’d be funny to do like an online version of Chappelle’s “player haters ball”. Because there is just so much comedy in forum drama… people start shit on every little thing.

Snark is going to the dogs, I swear. The whole anonymous comments thing I would expect from the members of Inferno, Disaster or just recently Neonglow MB (I got some beautiful anon comments from their members…), but Snark? It’s really disappointing. The bad is starting to outweigh the good at that place.
The internet is so fucking shitty. Really, there are SO many people that have NOTHING better to do with their lives. I like to sit here and laugh at all the kiddies who think they’re on the up and up with respect to copyright violation when they clearly are not.
It’s been years since I actually saw someone accuse someone else of copying. My opinion, if you have something to say, have the balls to own up to it. That’s kinda the point of having an opinion. Anyways, I really my wouldn’t have thought the layouts are similar. Just my two cents.
I read up on the mb posts and I figure since Melissa says she has no problem with your site then just ignore the rest. To be honest it seems to me like they’re just looking for something/someone to blame and pick on, don’t worry about it.
When I looked at Melissa’s site I didn’t see much similarity. I guess I wasn’t looking close enough.

It seems somewhat amusing that you titled your post ‘What a bunch of cry babies’ but then went on to whinge about other people’s reactions to your layout. Nonetheless, if you’ve still got the IPs of the anonymous commenters I could compare them to my own DB and probably tell you who they were.
I figured people would outgrow accusing people of stealing but apparently not.I love the layout it is very nice.
Jem – Oh well. Maybe I am a cry baby. At this point, I could care less about who it actually was. I just think that anonymous commenting to post something nasty is a cowardly thing to do.

I think your layout is gorgeous and I don’t think it looks anything like the other one.
