Down with the sickness
I went to the doctor, and it turns out I have a “flu-like virus that’s going around.” There’s two versions of it, the doctor told me. The congestion, coughing, sneezing, post-nasal-drip one, and the vomiting and diarrhea one. She said I didn’t show definitive signs of either, but the blood tests came up positive with this virus. So who knows… in a day or two, I could be shitting my brains out. Fabulous.
I think the worst part of being sick right now, isn’t the headaches, isn’t the nausea, and isn’t even the ability to ingest nothing but saltines. I get episodes of chills that are so bad, every muscle in my body tenses up and I shiver uncontrollably. Ibuprofen and Tylenol help to ease this, as well as all my other symptoms, so that instead I only have a mild hint of a headache. Or my nausea is reduced to a churning in the pit of my stomach and a lump feeling just below my chin that waits for that one gag or cough. And my chills don’t bring on violent shivers.
The worst part is, the doctor said there was nothing she could prescribe for me, I would just have to get plenty of rest and fluids. Eric caught the same virus I did… but his is worse. And we didn’t move in today like we were supposed to. I’m beginning to lose hope.
